Coming from a family of 13, Lois worked in the cafeteria during school hours unable to pursue her inner longing to take art classes. Her generation expected women to become nurses, teachers or secretaries.
Her chosen profession was a legal secretary, court reporter/judicial secretary and finally, before her retirement, Clerk of the Court. Her desire to paint could only be enhanced through neighborhood classes and projects. Her retirement years brought time slots for painting to the forefront.
She has won several ribbons, was chosen artist of the month and exhibited in various art shows both in her former State of Michigan and current State of Florida. She was commissioned to do commercial and residential murals and has continued to take various art classes and workshops.
Her love of gardening flows through her art work, enhancing her floral and nature works with realism. She admits to being happiest when she can capture God’s gifts on canvas. Oil, acrylics and watercolor are her chosen mediums although she has dabbled in pen and ink and scratch board.
Living in Hernando, Florida, Lois continues to pursue her career. Her goal is to enhance the lives of others, either through her art works or just putting a smile on someone’s face.
